Attempted Strong Armed Robbery Reported

On Saturday April 14, 2012 at approximately 3:15 a.m. the Butler University Police Department received a 911 call on an attempted strong armed robbery occurring in an alley near the 4600 Blk N. Rookwood Avenue. An Indiana University medical student reported that he was approached in the alley by an unknown male wearing a red sweater. The suspect demanded money. The victim, not associated with Butler University, exchanged punches with the suspect and ran.
City and University Police responded and searched the area. A suspect was not located. This location is off-campus south of Hinkle Field House. The case will be assigned to investigations.
Students, faculty, and staff are reminded that BUPD offers 24 hour transportation escorts by calling 317-940-9999. An Emergency Notification was sent using the Dawg Alert system during this incident.
