Starting this weekend, mobile users can text HINKLE to 32333 to donate $10 to Butler’s campaign to preserve and renovate Hinkle Fieldhouse.

General Hinkle ExteriorThe text-to-give service by Hipcricket Inc. goes live during Saturday’s ESPN GameDay coverage of the Butler’s men’s basketball against Gonzaga in Hinkle Fieldhouse. (The charge for a donation will appear on the mobile subscriber’s carrier bill.)

Tickets for the 9 p.m. game are sold out, but all fans are welcome to the live GameDay broadcasts that morning.

Admission is free; doors will open at 8 a.m. The event features lots of giveaways, musical entertainment, and appearances by Butler mascots Blue II, Trip, and Hink. One lucky Butler student will get a chance to win $18,000, if she or he can sink a half-court shot during the broadcast.

GameDay will air on ESPNU 10-11 a.m. and on ESPN 11 a.m.-noon.

Donations to The Campaign for Hinkle Fieldhouse will fund maintenance to the exterior of the 85-year-old fieldhouse and interior renovations to improve facilities for student-athletes and enhance the fan experience of Hinkle. Butler has secured close to $13 million in campaign gifts and pledges, toward a public fundraising goal of $16 million.
