Butler University’s Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts presents “No Room for Squares,” an exhibit of photographs of jazz musicians by freelance photographer Mark Sheldon, now through Oct. 31.

The exhibit of 18 portrait and performance shots of local musicians and jazz legends such as Sonny Rollins and Ornette Coleman coincides with Indy Jazz Fest and Allen Toussaint’s performance at the Schrott Center on Sept. 12.
“No Room for Squares” is open to the public two hours before any performance at the Schrott Center, or by calling the box office at (317) 940-2787. Admission is free.

“We’re so pleased to have our first major event be Allen Toussaint and to establish this relationship with Indy Jazz Fest,” Schrott Center Operations Manager Francie Cohen said.
Sheldon is an Indianapolis-based freelance photographer, specializing in music and lifestyle photography. He is a regular contributor to Down Beat magazine and his work has been featured in dozens of publications including Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Time Out Chicago, Time Out New York, Keyboard magazine, Double Bassist/Strad magazine (London), Guitar Player, Indianapolis Monthly and NorthWest Airlines World Traveler.
He has photographed thousands of musicians and dozens of music festivals over the past 35 years including but not limited to the Chicago Jazz Fest, Monterey Jazz Fest, the Portland Jazz Fest, NYC’s Vision Fest and the Hyde Park Jazz Fest. Sheldon is the staff photographer for the Indy Jazz Fest.
