Numerous opportunities for faculty development are presented each academic year in various settings. These include Faculty Food for Thought events, Teaching and Learning with Technology workshops, University 101 sessions, New Faculty Orientation, Butler Institute for Research and Scholarship (BIRS) workshops, the Brown Bag Series for Research, Scholarship and Creative Work and more. Online Technology Training

In addition to its live training events, coaching sessions and Butler-created tutorials, the Center for Academic Technology offers quick access to online training materials. You can work at your own pace to explore new technologies or improve your skills. Learn more.

Teaching Observation Program

Observing another colleague’s teaching can help to foster conversations about pedagogy, student learning, and classroom dynamics. It’s also a great way to learn about another discipline or area of focus, and engage with colleagues on the important work of teaching. To assist in this, faculty are invited to participate with Butler colleagues in a Teaching Observation Program each semester. Learn more.
