University K9 Unit
Established in December 2011, the K9 Unit consists of handler Officer Jason Downs and Marcus, a Lab trained specifically for explosives detection. The unit will complement BUPD’s partnership with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) to sweep and protect the major sporting event and theatre sites on campus. In addition to Butler venues, Marcus and Officer Downs, as a team, will be detailed to the IMPD and the Indiana University Police Department to sweep other event sites throughout Indianapolis as needed.
