Head Basketball Coach Brad Stevens to Continue as Brand Ambassador
The Butler University Athletic Department and PNC Bank today announced a three-year agreement naming PNC Bank as the official bank sponsor of Butler University Athletics. In addition, Butler Men’s Basketball Coach Brad Stevens will continue in his role as a brand ambassador for the bank’s local community initiatives. The contract begins immediately and runs through May 31, 2016.
“PNC continues to build on the outstanding relationships we have established at Butler,” said Connie Bond Stuart, regional president of PNC Bank in Indianapolis. “Our expanded sponsorship with Butler reflects our plans to continue growing in Indianapolis and throughout the state, building our brand and supporting our community.”
PNC Bank will continue to be the presenting sponsor of Grow Up Great Day at a select Butler basketball game each year. PNC Grow Up Great is a $350 million, multi-year initiative that began in 2004 to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. PNC has worked closely with Dr. Ena Shelley, dean of the College of Education at Butler, to elevate discussions about the importance of access to quality early childhood education. PNC grants help support the Butler/Indianapolis Public Schools partnerships at Shortridge Magnet High School and William A. Bell Elementary No. 60.
In addition, PNC Bank will have a significant advertising presence at Hinkle Fieldhouse and will continue its sponsorship of the weekly Brad Stevens interview segment on the Dan Dakich show during basketball season on WFNI-AM 1070. Stevens will continue to speak at various PNC events and provide support for its Grow Up Great program.
PNC has been a valuable supporter of Butler Athletics for many years,” said Barry Collier, vice president and director of athletics at Butler. “We are excited to have PNC Bank join our corporate partner program in an expanded capacity and look forward to developing our relationship over the next three years.”
Collier said PNC’s increased sponsorship commitment to Butler Athletics was especially appreciated as the University moves forward with its $16 million Campaign for Hinkle Fieldhouse launched last November. The campaign aims to preserve and maintain the 85-year-old fieldhouse’s exterior and to make improvements that benefit Butler’s student-athletes and enhance the fan experience for Hinkle spectators
Butler men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball teams play their home games in the fieldhouse. It also houses Athletic administration and coaching offices, training and educational facilities for all of Butler’s intercollegiate teams, and its physical education degree program.
