The announcement of a campus-sharing partnership between Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary, the hiring of LaVall Jordan as the new men’s basketball coach, and Frank Levinson ’75’s $5 million gift to support the sciences highlighted Butler’s news coverage in June.
The Indianapolis Star and the Indianapolis Business Journal both reported that in a deal to be finalized this fall, Butler would purchase all of the CTS campus, except the western portion that runs along Michigan Road and on which the Indiana Interchurch Center sits. The two institutions would remain independent.
The Star, IBJ, and Inside Indiana Business also wrote about Levinson’s gift to bolster the sciences, which have seen a nearly 50 percent increase in enrollment at Butler over the past decade.
In sports, the hiring of LaVall Jordan made national news, and Butler runner Erik Peterson garnered plenty of attention for his third-place finish in the 10,000 meters in the NCAA Championships at Eugene, Oregon.
